Procter held leadership positions in the American Pharmaceutical Association for 22 years and served as the corresponding secretary for the “American Journal of Pharmacy.” In 1852, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) was established as a professional organization for American pharmacists. Today, with more than 62,000 members, the APhA continues to actively support and advocate for pharmacists across the country. In 2004, the APhA introduced American Pharmacists Month (APhM), which has since been observed every October.
