📜 WE Day History
Craig and his friends were part of the original group of 12 young people who started the Saturday community. However, the real turning point came when Craig traveled to South Asia for seven weeks to learn more about children’s rights. It was during this time that the idea of “free the children” was born. Fast forward 20 years, and Craig and Marc transformed the “Free The Children Campaign” into WE Charity, a global movement dedicated to tackling various local and global problems such as health, education, the environment, nutrition, and entrepreneurship.
To recognize students who have made a positive impact on their lives, families, communities, and society as a whole, We Day was established. While We Day is a one-day event, it is part of a larger year-long program that aims to enhance students’ leadership skills. WE Charity also created WE Schools, which provides resources to help students take action on important local and global issues in order to create positive change. Through this program, students are taught problem-solving skills, motivation, resilience, compassion, and responsibility.
